Cabela’s Boar Hide Unlined Field Pants are an exceptionally good set of pants for the upland shooting I do. There is always a fair bit of blackberry and gorse where I hunt, and it doesn’t penetrate the 1000 denier facing.
I pick up a new pair of these at the end of the US upland season when they are half price, and get them cut to 30 1/2 inches, as they seem to hang very low over boots. Folding the hem over ends up with a hem full of debris, and they are hard to have shortened as the 1000 denier nylon is very hard to sew.
The only slight problem with these is that the facing doesn’t come very far up the back of the leg, or high enough on the front. I always end up with lots of blackberry scratches above the facing, and some on the back of my legs. For $25 plus shipping and handling this is a minor complaint, especially since my legs get hammered by blackberry during the fishing season.
